Standalone Infrastructure: Flood Agent

We're big on load testing in the cloud here at Flood because of how easy it makes scaling up your tests. Sometimes, though, testing on the cloud just isn't an option, especially for more security-focused organizations. What if you already have a data center or on-premise load generators that you'd like to use for your tests? Enter Flood Agent.

How does it work?

Flood Agent is an executable that you can download onto each of the machines you'd like to use as part of your load test. This agent communicates with Flood so that your load generators will be visible as a grid on the Flood UI, allowing Flood to control and manage test execution just as if you were running on the cloud.

How do I use Flood Agent?

For installation, configuration and usage of Flood Agent, go to this page and start reading the installation instructions for your operating system.

Which load testing tools can I use with Flood Agent?

Right now, you can use JMeter and Gatling with Flood Agent. However, we also intend to add support for Flood Element later.

How do I get results from my load test?

With Flood Agent, you'll get your results on your Flood dashboard in real time, just like when you're running tests on the cloud. Flood does the heavy lifting in the background to communicate with your nodes and collate the data. You'll also be able to access extra logs in the form of Archived Results after the test.

My load generators already have my testing tools installed. Can I use the local installations?

Yes, you can use your own installations and plugins. All you need to do is download Flood-specific plugins for each tool here and configure Flood Agent to point to the file path of your tool.

How much does Flood Agent cost?

Running load tests on Flood requires the use of VUH through a subscription, and Flood subscriptions can be free or paid.
Using Flood Agent to generate the load does not incur additional costs, and Flood Agent is a free download.
